Hi, I’m Christine

I am the girl behind the lens. I am a married mother of 5 and Nana to 3 grand-babies. Our house is a tornado of crazy chaos and I love it. My younger son and I are huge fans of bad puns and silly “dad jokes.” We know we have succeed in our mission when the other family members shake their heads in disapproval yet they can’t help but smile. Bonus points if they actually laugh while protesting how bad that was. My other kids and I are huge music lovers and will sing at the top of our lungs in the car.

My favorite holiday is Halloween! What other day of the year do you get to go to neighbors houses to ask for candy while dressed as your favorite superhero or an awesome monster?! In my house we start planning costumes on November 1st for the following year.

My husband and I have recently discovered a love for travel. We have already gone to Argentina, Greece, and Spain. We are trying to decide if we want to go to Japan for our next big trip and take the kids. Where we go doesn’t really matter in the end. All that does matter is that we are somewhere we have never been before, exploring the lands and trying new foods. Heck even trying foods we normally eat at home is so much more different in other countries. The steaks in Argentina are AMAZING and that is coming from a Texan! Feta cheese has been ruined for me because I had it in Greece and there are NO words to describe how good it was. Don’t even get me started on the coffee! All this food talk is getting me hungry.

Why Did I Get Into Photography?

Honestly my love for photography started at a very young age.  I’m not sure of my exact age, but I know it was younger than 10.  I still remember my first camera, I was gifted a 110 mm camera and three film cartridges. I immediately ran outside and started taking pictures of all the wonders I saw in the world.  The beautiful shapes and colors of the rocks, the slimy snail that came out on the freshly watered lawn, and so many other things that I saw but never had the words to describe.  I ran home having burned through all three film cartridges in a matter of hours and handed them to my mother to be developed.

A few days later my mother returned with the pictures.  Imagine my confusion when they were ALL blurry.  My mom asked, “why did you take pictures of a bunch of rocks?”  I had no clue about how to use the camera or that I needed to be a little farther away for my little point and shoot camera.  Over the years my mother was kind enough to purchase more film and at some point I upgraded to a little point and shoot 35mm camera.  I learned through trial and error and eventually figured out how to translate what I was seeing in my head onto film.  Now I get to play with a digital camera.  I still have my favorite 35 mm camera that I pull out to take black and whites with, but not as often as I would like.

My subject matter has also changed over the years.  Don’t get me wrong I still take pictures of pretty rocks, flowers, seashells, and tiny crabs I mistook as rocks that started moving just to scare me.  However, my favorite subjects are now people and if I’m lucky I can even get some photos of their fur babies too.  I love taking pictures of my kiddos (when they let me), even though it usually ends with them giving me a face that says, “seriously mom.”  I love, love, love taking pictures of our adorable dogs and the hummingbirds that feed in my back yard.  Hmmmm…you know it’s a good thing I shoot digital now if I had to pay for all the film I’d be broke!

Ok, I think I have rambled enough about how I’m apparently still that little kid that takes tons of pictures of rocks. Actually that is something you should really know about me. I love good conversation. I have been told many times that I can walk into a room of strangers and leave with a room full of friends.
